Examples of food sources are:

1.       Milk

2.       Eggs – from chicken, duck

3.       Meat – red meat (beef, pork, mutton) which has lots of fat and white meat (chicken and fish), healthier  because it has less fat

4.       Cheese


Advantages

1.       Animal proteins are 20 – 30 % more digestible than plant protein.

2.       They are rich in vitamin A, vitamin B12, riboflavin, calcium, iron and zinc.

3.       It provides high quality protein.

4.       Allows us to function at our best.

Disadvantages

1.       It causes weight gain if sedentary, can cause increase in muscle mass.

2.       Puts you at risk for getting cardiovascular diseases.

3.       High in calories, saturated and trans-fat, increases cholesterol levels and contributes to decrease in life expectancy.
